TEL AVIV, Israel, July 9 (UPI) ? A 5.7-magnitude earthquake that shook the Greek island Rhodes Monday was also felt in Jerusalem and other parts of Israel, Israeli officials said.
The quake?s epicenter was approximately 354 miles northwest of Israel, Haaretz reported.
?At 4:55 p.m. an earthquake measuring 5.7 was felt in the Mediterranean Sea southeast of Rhodes. The quake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometers [31 miles] and was felt in various places including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Afula,? said a report from the Geophysics Institute in Lod, Israel.
The previous earthquake felt in Israel was a 5.3-magnatude quake in May that was also centered in the Mediterranean Sea, the American Geophysics Institute said.
